The Living Wage

The Living Wage commitment ensures that everyone working at Efficiency North, regardless of whether they are permanent employees or third-party contractors, receive a minimum hourly wage significantly higher than the national minimum wage.

The Living Wage is an hourly rate set independently and updated annually. The Living Wage is calculated according to the basic cost of living using the ‘Minimum Income Standard’ for the UK. Decisions about what to include in this standard are set by the public; it is a social consensus about what people need to make ends meet.

Employers choose to pay the Living Wage on a voluntary basis. The Living Wage enjoys cross party support, with public backing from the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition.

“Efficiency North has always aimed to be a catalyst to help drive social value and positive change through our innovative and efficient procurement solutions for social housing landlords. The team are all really proud that EN has been accredited as a Living Wage Employer.  We already work with our sub-contractors and suppliers to offer employment and training opportunities for those furthest from the labour market within landlords’ tenant and wider communities.  We will continue to encourage them to pursue this initiative to ensure that pay levels for everyone are in line with the cost of living.”   Efficiency North Chief Executive Lee Parkinson
