Billy the Boxer at Forging Futures

Learning doesn’t just take place in a classroom – part of building successful and confident people is supporting soft skills too. That is why EN:Able Communities is excited to partner with LB & Co to provide enrichment for learners at CEG’s Forging Futures Campus.

Billy the Boxer Teaches Life Skills Through Boxing at the Forging Futures Campus

Specialist planning and highways law practice, LB & Co, have entered into a partnership with EN:Able Communities to provide enrichment activities that support trainees on the Introduction to Construction courses being run at CEG’s Forging Futures Campus. Billy the Boxer, a well-known local boxing trainer, will run the activities, which are designed to provide skill development and therapy through boxing.

LB & Co have donated £5000 to run four boxing training courses in 2019/20, and are looking to donate the same again in the following financial year.

The first of these enrichment days was run in July 2020 for a cohort of 15 learners: and it was a great success! In addition to supporting the young people with their physical and mental health, the activities also build self-confidence and provide a mechanism for anger management so that they develop the right behaviours to bring to the workplace.

How many people will this training reach?

Over 2019/20, it is hoped that these boxing courses will help around 60 young people in Leeds with their personal development.

What is the Forging Futures Campus?

The Forging Futures Campus is a skills centre that provides vocational training, site visits and work experience for students, local people and young people not in education, employment or training.
