Previous circumstances prior to starting apprenticeship:

Andrew attended Wath Comprehensive 6th form for 2 years and studied BTEC Science and BTEC Sport. He passed both of these with Distinctions and Merits. He then attended Bangor University for 4 months, studying Sports Science and Nutrition. At the time there were some significant and challenging personal issues which meant that Andrew took the decision to leave his university course and return home to be closer to his family.

Brief description of duties:

Andrew gets stuck into a bit of everything at work, including:

  • Lots of stud walling

  • Pipe boxing

  • Door frames

  • Hanging doors

He enjoys fitting skirting, kitchens, stud walling etc. He generally likes to be able to see his finished product and take a lot of pride in his work.

What difference has doing the apprenticeship made to your life?

The apprenticeship has made a huge difference in his life so far!

He’s learnt a lot of new skills and particularly a lot around time management, working to deadlines, work ethic etc.

What are your aims for your future career?

Andrew is exceptionally diligent in his college work. He is usually the first in his class to have completed the work and finished all of his assignments and he usually finishes with distinctions!

He would like to continue this by wrapping up his Level 2 with a high grade and hopefully continuing on with Sandersons. Ideally, he would be supported into his Level 3 and just keep working, learning and earning.
