Stepping Up 4 Ashley

Please support our 2021 team challenge for Teenage Cancer Trust in memory of our Humber Construction Hub apprentice Ashley Winks

Starting on 27th September for 7 days, the Efficiency North EN:Joy Riders will be attempting a step challenge to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust in memory of Ashley Winks, our Humber Construction Hub apprentice who lost his battle with Burkitt Lymphoma, a rare form cancer, in January this year.  Members of Ashley’s family will also be joining in with the challenge.

We will be stepping up from our sofas for the SU4A challenge - combining all of our daily step counts to walk virtually the distance between all 45 of our social housing landlord members up and down the country.

This is equivalent to 812 miles, roughly 1.8M steps over the course of the 7 days.

Throughout his illness, Ashley received a great deal of support from Teenage Cancer Trust, the only UK charity dedicated to providing specialised nursing, care and support to young people with cancer.

Last September’s Cycle for Ashley challenge raised over £3,000 for the charity. Despite undergoing chemo and stem cell replacement treatments, Ashley, along with many of his family, attended the start, middle and end of the ride to cheer on the EN:Joy Riders.
